Flash Media Live Encoder (Video)

Introduction:

Flash Media Live Encoder(FMLE) is a free option that you can use to stream both audio and video to us through a MacBook or PC laptop. Unlike a program like Wirecast, FMLE requires you to enter all of your information manually before you can get a stream up and running. However, it is a super convenient program if you need to put a quick stream together. In this article, we will go over how to setup a video stream through FMLE. For more information on how to do an audio broadcast through FMLE, or how to add audio to your video broadcast, click  here

Video Settings (HD)

  • The first thing you will want to do is ensure that the video box has a check mark on it. This tells FMLE that you are adding a video element to your broadcast.
  • The rest of the settings should go as follows for a HD broadcast. Device: whatever source your video is coming from. Format: H.264. Frame Rate: 30 fps. Input size: 1280x720. Bit Rate: 1500 Kbps. Output size: 1280x720.

Video Settings (SD):

  • The first thing you will want to do is ensure that the video box has a check mark on it. This tells FMLE that you are adding a video element to your broadcast.
  • Next, you will want to enter the following information for an SD broadcast.  Device: whatever source your video is coming from. Format: H.264. Frame Rate: 30 fps. Input size: 720x480. Bit Rate: 500 Kbps. Output size: 720x480.
